Yoga Teacher Training for School Based Educators


Join Melissa Hawkins for the Next Generation Yoga Teacher Training for School Based Educators on February 2nd from 9:00-5:00 at Bala Yoga in downtown Kirkland. This joyful, playful and inspiring Next Generation Yoga Teacher Training is an 8-hour Yoga Alliance registered certification course that teaches you how to share Yoga in the school setting. The Next Generation Yoga Teacher Training for School-Based Educators is open to classroom teachers, P.E. teachers, OTs, PTs, SLPs, school psychologists, administrators, support staff, parent volunteers and anyone else who is currently teaching or wants to bring Yoga into schools. I am so excited for us to come together to share and learn important techniques and exercises for implementing movement, Yoga and Mindfulness with students, grades K-6. Are you ready? Breath of Joy: Yoga as a tool for learning
Are you feeling the pressure of increased academic demands in classrooms? Do you desire a more positive, peaceful, productive classroom climate? Come and learn simple strategies to integrate yoga and mindfulness in a classroom setting. Yoga provides a way to connect the body and mind helping students to become more focused, more self-aware, while promoting self-regulation and positive peer relationships.
The demonstrated activities are designed to engage the whole child and are appropriate for the typical classroom space and schedule. No prior yoga experience or equipment is necessary.
Together we will learn:
– The neuroscience of yoga and how it connects to learning
– Breathing exercises
– Seated/desk stretches
– Standing poses
– Sequencing
– Integrating yoga and curriculum
